Growing up in Guelph, my brother was diagnosed at a young age once he entered the school system. My parents concerns were not addressed until fellow teachers noticed the difference between teaching him and prior his siblings.
It was a constant struggle to get funding, resources, assistance and understanding.
I would like to see our children today not have to go through such struggles and to have the support they need.
As a sibling who watched her brother struggle socially, as well as through the education system; I am hoping there are no cuts to autism funding or any other funding regarding our health care, our mental health, disabilities and education.
