Brayden

Age: 8
Provincial Riding: Niagara Centre
My name is Brayden. I am 8 years old. I was kicked off the IBI waitlist 3 years ago just past my 5th birthday. Although it devastated my family, they fought for me to get me the services I needed. I am non verbal. I am not toilet trained. And although I'm a pretty easy going kid, I do not understand any dangers around me. I cannot perform simple life skills. Since starting IBI 3 years ago, 3-4 full days a week, I have learned to stop on command, I have learned to use a spoon and a fork, I have transitioned from a sippy cup to a regular cup. I have been somewhat successful using a toilet although still need pull ups. I have started interacting with peers and have developed eye contact. I can wave good bye and say I love you through signing. I am starting to learn how to communicate through pictures on my Ipad but I really still need alot of work on this to be successful in communication which is an essential life skill to get me through life. My understanding of what people ask of me has massively increased over 3 years. I love my family at the Gain Centre in Niagara and I'm not ready to stop learning. There are so many life skills I need and safety issues to master in order for me to be safe and be able to have any chance in life going forward. My mom is a single mother. She is a nurse and works full time. She is not trained as a therapist nor does she have the time to give me the skills I need at the intensity that i need them. I am proof that ABA works over the age of 5! IAM THE 100%
